This drawing originally belonged to a sketchbook owned by Eliza Wetherell Hipkins, which included contributions by various authors and artists such as Washington Irving or David Roberts. Eliza Wetherell Hipkins was a descendent of the English merchant Nathaniel Wetherell, who founded the San Diego tannery in Seville. The sketchbook was completed between 1826 and 1864, and was originally composed of 84 written pages and 28 drawings and watercolours. However, it was disassembled, separating its contents.
